Meet Jim Pikl

Jim Pikl brings 38 years of high-level litigation and appellate experience to his mediation and arbitration practice. An honors graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law, he served as Managing Editor of the Gonzaga Law Review in his third year. He has continued to write legal scholarship, publishing articles in the Federal Courts Law Review, the Texas Tech Law Review, and the Review of Litigation, among others.

Professional Biography

Jim has been told by many of his clients—and judges—that his legal superpower is taking very complex cases and making them understandable to a jury or a busy court. Jim believes mediation is most successful when the fluff is carved away and the parties get down to the meat of their dispute. He is certified in Texas to serve as a mediator in all types of mediations, including family law matters. He also served for many years as a neutral/arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.

Since 1993, Jim has been Board Certified in Consumer and Commercial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, one of only 70 such lawyers in Texas. He has acted as lead counsel in over 400 trial court cases and in dozens of appeals in Texas and numerous federal courts nationwide, including the U.S. Supreme Court. His practice has focused on commercial litigation and appeals, but he also handles civil rights, patent law, administrative law, and election law matters.

Jim currently serves as an Associate Judge in Collin County, Texas and is an equity shareholder in one of the premier law firms in Texas, Scheef & Stone, LLP.
